GNO is free forever. Publishing is optional.

Local GNO — the hybrid search, the Web UI, the CLI, the SDK, the MCP server, the agent skills, everything — is open-source and MIT-licensed. Install it and use every feature on your own machine with no account.

gno.sh is a separate hosted publishing layer for when you want to share a note or a whole collection as a polished reading surface. That’s what has tiers.

Billing FAQ

Common billing questions.

Do I need a gno.sh account to use GNO?

No. Local GNO is free, open-source, and MIT-licensed. Install it and use every feature on your own machine without ever creating an account. gno.sh publishing is a separate hosted layer for when you want to share a note beyond your laptop.

What does the Free tier actually include?

10 published notes, 3 published collections, 1 GB of asset storage, public URLs, and a subtle “Published with GNO” footer on every shared page. No card required. No trial. It stays free.

When do I have to pay — and what unlocks at each tier?

Secret links, invite-only spaces, and 50 GB of storage unlock with Pro ($9/mo). End-to-end encrypted shares, white-label, custom domains, and team seats unlock with Team ($29/mo). You can upgrade or downgrade at any time from the billing page.

Is there a free trial of Pro or Team?

Not today. The Free tier is genuinely free with no time limit — use it as long as you need to validate the product. Upgrade when you hit a feature or quota wall, and downgrade freely if it isn’t the right fit.

How does billing work technically?

gno.sh uses Better Auth for sessions and Polar for subscriptions. One identity, one paywall, entitlements derived from billing state. No second user system, no manual plan toggles.

Try both

Install GNO now, publish later if you want to.

Install the local workspace today with one command. If you ever want to share a note or a whole collection beyond your machine, the free tier of gno.sh publishing is waiting — and always will be.
